The A&D Quality Session at the OECI Oncology Days 2023
At the OECI Oncology Days in Paris in June 2023, the Quality Session first focussed on “What cancer care and research means for patients”. Presentations were given by patient representatives and clinicians in cancer centres on increasing patient empowerment and involvement in co-designing cancer services and research projects. Some excellent practices for communication with patients (including new digital tools) were shown, along with the results of an EU research project (INTENT) on patient-centredness.
A second session focussed on other excellent practices in OECI cancer centres, in radiotherapy research, care planning, and nursing education.
Finally, the results of a major review of cancer research in Europe in the Lancet Oncology Commission was presented, showing the comparative inequalities of cancer research investment and outputs throughout Europe.
